Celebrate National Singles Day: Skyrocket Your Adventures by Traveling

Celebrating National Singles Day by taking a vacation is a wonderful idea. It's a chance to treat yourself to some relaxation, exploration, and self-care. Research suggests that traveling can increase happiness and decrease stress levels. Taking a solo trip can also help you get out of your comfort zone and grow as a person. It may even boost your self-confidence because the only person to rely on and make decisions for you is yourself. This can lead to deeper fulfillment and a sense of purpose.

Whether you're traveling solo or with friends, here are a few steps and ideas to help you plan your vacation for National Singles Day:

Choose a Destination:

Consider a place you've always wanted to visit. It could be a serene beach, a bustling city, a charming mountain town, or even a remote countryside location. Pick a destination that aligns with your interests and preferences.

4 good vacation ideas for singles are:

1.   Cruises

A great vacation idea for those who are single is cruises. Enjoy the onboard activities, bars, and shopping. Plus, you get to visit different destinations where you can explore. You can even go on an adult-only cruise line. Cruises are a good first step if you are nervous about going alone or this is your first time traveling alone. Mostly everything you do from entertainment, activities, and food is already taken care of for you on a cruise. You don’t have to worry about navigating around a strange place, getting lost, or language barriers since everything is contained in the ship, and your excursions are planned on the ship. You leave as a group and come back as a group. It is also flexible so you can go almost whenever you want and cross off those bucket list destinations since you go to multiple ports at once. The daily group activities are planned out for the day, pick what interests you, meet new people, and try new things. Then after all your adventures relax onboard the ship at the spa. After mastering your first solo trip you will be ready to take on the next trip with your new abilities and confidence of navigating on your own.

2.   Las Vegas

is another great singles place to go. There are so many shows and concerts to go to in between the casinos and visiting all the iconic places. Las Vegas has a roller coaster on top of the Stratosphere tower for thrill seekers. They offer restaurants that are run by celebrity chefs so you can have culinary treats.  If you need a break from all the bright lights you can hop a coach bus and take a ride to the Grand Canyon. Where you can experience nature and reflect on the beauty that is in this world.

3.   The Philippines

Philippines

The Phillippines is a great destination spot for singles. Boracay is ranked one of the top 10 beaches in Asia. You can stay on the island or take a cruise. This is a small island with great weather and friendly people. There are restaurants that serve food from American, Mexican, Thai, French, and more. Most of the resorts offer live entertainment. Boracay is also known for its party scene. From March to May locals travel to the island in addition to the tourist. The main beaches will be more crowded with the influx of people so if you like social events this is the time to go. It will be a great time to meet new people. The beaches come alive with dance parties including fire dances and music throughout the night. They are famous for watersport activities on the white sand beaches with clear blue water. The beaches make for great pictures that are postcard-worthy. Can’t make it from March to May that is okay, you will get a second chance from December to Feb. This is another peak season for the island with many tourists looking for warm sun and sandy beaches to escape the cold where they are from. This time of year is bustling with festivals. New Year is a celebration with fireworks and parties. Windsurfing competitions are held in January. This is great entertainment for spectators watching participants both locally and internationally surf the waves. It has a warm climate that is less affected by typhoons. If you travel from July – September this is Monsoon season and you will encounter rainy weather, bigger waves, and maybe canceled flights.

4.   Barcelona, Spain

is ideal for culture, art, and nightlife. A lot of travelers go to Barcelona so there is a good chance you may run into others and make friends. Along your way check out a guided food tour. Sample local food and learn about the culture and history with your local guide. The Gothic Quarter has pedestrian-only streets to explore the shops and the nightlife.

Visit the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia where construction started in 1882 and has been going on ever since. It is due to be finished in 2026. Go early it is an attraction with many visitors where people go to admire the architecture and beauty.

2.   Plan Activities:

Research and plan activities that you'll enjoy during your vacation. This could include sightseeing, outdoor adventures, cultural experiences, spa days, trying local cuisine, and more. The best part is you get to plan activities that make you happy not the group. Do you like museums? Take all the time you want to and enjoy it to the fullest without worrying about someone else being bored and wanting to leave.

3.   Embrace Solo Time:

Use this vacation as an opportunity for self-discovery and personal growth. Embrace the freedom of traveling solo, and engage in activities that make you happy and fulfilled. When you travel with groups of people you tend to stick together. When traveling alone you are more likely to talk to others you meet in group tours and the locals. This is a fantastic way to meet new people and have experiences you would not otherwise have with a group. You can also rest and relax when you need to because you don’t have to meet up with your group later. We do not get the opportunity often to just sit down and get to know ourselves. This is a great time to self-reflect.

4.   Capture Memories:

Take photos and write in a travel journal to capture your experiences and memories. These will serve as lasting reminders of your solo adventure. I have a travel journal app where I take pictures and write about the places I have been. Then in between travels, I look back on the memories I have created. This is a great way to reconnect with that moment in your life and remember how blessed you are to have had those memories.

5.   Stay Connected:

Even if you're traveling alone, you can still stay connected with friends and family through social media, messaging apps, and calls. Share your experiences and let them know you're having a great time. Remember that National Singles Day is all about celebrating your independence and enjoying your own company. Take this time to relax, explore, and have a memorable vacation that's tailored to your preferences and interests.
